Detailed Drainage Footprints of Vertical and Horizontal Wells (including Multi-staged Fracs);
Optimum Number of Wells per Section;
Optimum Inter-frac Spacing;
Risk Reductions in New and Infill areas;
Capital, Production and Recovery Optimization.
Area: East Pembina, Alberta; 16 Sections in Twps 47-2 to 48-3W5; Very active drilling area; Situated within the Cardium Halo area with multi-staged fracs implemented in the horizontal wells; Model area contains 24 Horizontal plus 28 Vertical and 3 Deviated wells.
Work covered includes:
1. Geological:
Detailed integrated 3D Geo-models were developed with all available Public Domain data. These include logs, trajectories, some core reviews, completion and production data. Petrophysics calculations, detailed tops modelling for all horizontal and vertical wells, 3D characterization, storage and flow capacity reviews and OOIP calculations for conglomerate and Cardium sands were completed. Horizontal and vertical profiles through HCPV models are also included in the Study document.
The process includes very high resolution HCPV models ~ 10m x-y resolution, 6 layers for the conglomerate, 15 for the sand; ~8.7 million cells in 16 Sections.
2. Reservoir Engineering and Volumetric Sweep Mapping (VSM) Simulation**:
All available multi-staged frac data were incorporated into VSM. EUR’s were estimated based on type well model developed from well decline. Displacement Efficiencies were calculated for the Cardium conglomerate and sands elements. The VSM process was run resulting in detailed 3D drainage volumes. Best practices for the well placement & completion also are included in the Study document.
** SMART4D VSM Simulator is a product of United. This process takes less time and cost than Black Oil simulation. VSM makes iterative runs to material balance the produced reservoir hydrocarbon resulting in the ultimate drainage footprints of movable hydrocarbons in existing vertical and horizontal wells. This process incorporates details of multi-staged fracs and their associated simulated reservoir volumes (SRVs) within a project area. To optimize future development, test wells and completions information are modelled and viewed to reveal optimal spacing and well EUR and production expectations. VSM can also handle waterfloods and other EOR processes.
Report Format: 1 Hard Copy plus PDF of Report in Electronic Form; Options for future updates available
Similar work can be commissioned for E&P’s in their lands with testing of proposed locations in the Cardium Halo area or in main pools under waterflood.
